The bid is the lower price

Ask is the higher price

Bid and Ask/author is the auction

Bidding the lower and asking/selling the higher price

In FOREX - you sell the lower price with is the bid and you buy the ask which is the higher price.

So the spread is the difference between the bid and the ask.
